Employment Law Lobby

United in Employment

United in Employment banners

UNITED IN EMPLOYMENT was founded out of the frustrations that employees and employers encounter with the:

  1. barriers faced when navigating the onerous legislative and regulatory requirements of employment law;
  2. fact that current legislation does not differentiate between SMEs/family run businesses and large corporations, thus ignoring the lack of resource, budget and in-house HR capabilities of smaller businesses;
  3. misuse of the employment law system for ulterior motives (i.e., grievances being raised/ disciplinary meetings being set up) as a way of exhausting the other party rather than as a genuine means to achieve a desired goal in good faith, thus causing, frustration, resentment and negativity as well as wasting valuable time;
  4. the bias towards confrontation and the lack of support for employees who wish to resolve issues, while continuing their employment;
  5. formulisation and lack of flexibility of employment procedures to the extent that it breaks down trust between employees and employers and leads to animosity and bad feeling;

The above situation often results in a negative scenario where employees feel restricted from achieving fulfilling careers and employers from running successful businesses.

BRING COMMON SENSE TO EMPLOYMENT LAW

UNITED IN EMPLOYMENT started from the idea that more needs to be done to change this given position, by adopting the right approach and with the support of the right employment legislation. The aims of the UNITED IN EMPLOYMENT are to lobby to:

  1. restore a common sense to employment relationship;
  2. put pressure on legislative bodies to introduce such common sense via legislation;
  3. differentiate between sizes of businesses so the legislation takes into account resources;
  4. introduce a pre-trial check, to resolve employment tribunal claims at an early stage, where there is no chance of success; to avoid wasted time, expense and damage to morale.

As an independent lobby, UNITED IN EMPLOYMENT works to implement intelligent and appropriate initiatives and to secure the interests of both employees and employers in proposed legislation by campaigning positively and using resources to maximum effect.

The more members we have, the greater our lobbying power! If we reach 100,000 names we can force a debate in Parliament! So invite your colleagues and business contacts to sign up too! Or if you just want to tell us about your personal experience with employment law, please get in touch as we’d love to hear from you too.

UNITED IN EMPLOYMENT’s work is ongoing, so if you contact us we’ll also be in touch with regular updates from time to time.
